About Gel Candle Safety

I have had a few comments from others regarding the safety of Gel Candles.  Prior to making them I did lots of research and most who believe they are not safe would be surprised at the statistics of Gel candles compared to others.

Fact: According to records of the Consumer Products Safety Commission out of 34 recalls, only 3 were gel candles. Research shows that most of the items that were recalled were due to large flames and breaking glassware. The remainder, 31 of the recalls, was for your normal Wax candle. What is the difference?

Gel is clear allowing many different designs and embeds. It melts at a higher temperature than wax, which means it burns hotter than wax. Only completely oil-soluble (non-polar) fragrance oils can be used with gel candles. Gel has a unique "glow" to it from the flame when burning.

Candle Safety

• Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.


• Keep wick trimmed between 1/8” and ¼” to prevent smoking.

• Always extinguish your candles before trimming wick.

• Do not burn candle for more than 4 hours at a time.

• Never leave a burning candle unattended!

• Container may become hot, handle with care.

• Store candles in a cool, dry place away from light to prevent fading.

• Keep burning candles away from drafts, vents and flammable objects.

• Keep matches and other debris out of the candles.

• Stop using your candle ½” from bottom of container.
